No name is needed. This calculator does not save your birth details or result to the database. Results appear on this page and disappear when it is refreshed.

Planetary positions are calculated astronomically. Astrological meanings are symbolic interpretations, not scientific personality tests or predictions of future events.

What is a Vedic birth chart?

A Vedic birth chart represents the sky at birth using the sidereal zodiac in the Jyotish tradition. This calculator provides the basic Rashi (D1) chart: seven classical celestial bodies, Rahu and Ketu, the ascendant and twelve houses. Nakshatras and padas are derived from the positions. These are not personality diagnoses or certain predictions.

Why does it differ from a Western birth chart?

Our main calculator uses the tropical zodiac and Placidus houses. This page uses the Lahiri sidereal zodiac and whole-sign houses. A different zodiac origin can move your Sun, Moon or ascendant into another sign. The ayanamsa changes with the date; the calculation does not subtract a fixed 24 degrees from every chart.

How to read your result

Start with the ascendant, called Lagna, and then the Moon sign. In whole-sign houses, the entire rising sign is the first house; subsequent signs become successive houses. Each row gives a body's degree within its sign and its house. A nakshatra is one of 27 equal divisions of the zodiac; each has four padas. An empty house does not mean that area of life is absent.

Method and comparison

Birthplace coordinates and historical time-zone rules convert local birth time to UTC. Swiss Ephemeris calculates Lahiri sidereal positions. Rahu is the mean north lunar node, and Ketu is exactly opposite. To compare tools, match the date, coordinates, UTC time, Lahiri ayanamsa, whole-sign houses and mean-node setting.

Birth time and scope

Do not treat an ascendant or houses calculated from a guessed birth time as certain. Even small differences can change placements near boundaries. Dates from 1900 to 2099 are supported. Ambiguous or nonexistent local times during daylight-saving transitions are rejected. This version provides D1, without Navamsha (D9), Dasha periods or personal predictions.

Vedic birth chart questions

Is the Vedic birth chart calculator free?

Yes. Calculate your ascendant, Moon sign, nakshatra, planets and houses for free without creating an account.

Which ayanamsa does this calculator use?

It uses Lahiri and displays the value for your birth date. Houses use the whole-sign system, and Rahu–Ketu use the mean lunar node.

Can I calculate a chart without my birth time?

This tool requires a time. The ascendant and houses cannot be reliably established without it; the Moon sign and nakshatra may also change during the day.

Why is my Vedic sign different?

The tropical and sidereal zodiacs use different starting points. A changed sign does not by itself indicate an error.
