Planetary positions are calculated astronomically. Astrological meanings are symbolic interpretations, not scientific personality tests or predictions of future events.

Astrocartography is an astrology technique that maps the sky at your moment of birth onto the globe, showing where your planets fall on the four angles of the chart: the Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven and IC. Enter your date, time and place of birth, and this astrocartography calculator lists the places among Turkey’s 81 provinces and leading world cities where your planets land close to those angles, grouped under love, career, home, growth and challenge. The results offer a symbolic take on where you might live based on your chart; they aren’t relocation advice meant to decide a move by themselves.

What is astrocartography?

Astrocartography is an astrological method that spreads your birth chart across a map of the world. It owes its name and its modern form to the American astrologer Jim Lewis, who developed it in the 1970s. The core idea is simple: at the moment you were born, a planet may have been below the horizon as seen from your birthplace, while at that same instant it stood overhead at another longitude and was rising on the eastern horizon somewhere else.

Join up all the places where a planet sits on one of the chart’s four angles and you get lines across the world map, known as planetary lines or astrocartography lines. Traditionally, a planet’s themes are said to be felt more strongly in places near its line. Your birth chart itself never changes; what changes is which planet takes the lead. On the same principle, a chart recast for the city you live in is called a relocation chart.

Where should I live? How to approach the question astrologically

Before looking for an astrological answer, get clear on what you want. For love and marriage, the Descendant lines of Venus and the Moon stand out; for career and visibility, the Midheaven lines of the Sun, Jupiter and Saturn; for a peaceful home, the IC lines of the Moon, Venus and Jupiter. Jupiter on any angle is tied to growth and luck, while Saturn, Mars and Pluto are linked to challenging themes that call for effort. This tool groups your results under exactly these headings.

A good place is never about a single line. If a city carries both a Jupiter line and a Saturn line, opportunity and responsibility arrive together. Lines labeled challenging aren’t bad either; they often open up powerful room for discipline, courage or transformation. Use the results like a compass, and weigh them against real-world factors such as work, cost of living, language, climate and social circle.

Astrocartography lines: ASC, DSC, MC and IC

A birth chart has four angles. The Ascendant (ASC) is the eastern horizon and describes personality, the body and first impressions. The Descendant (DSC) is the western horizon and relates to relationships, partnerships and the people who cross your path. The Midheaven (MC) is the highest point of the sky and symbolizes career, reputation and your role in society. The IC, or Imum Coeli, is the lowest point of the chart and represents home, family and roots.

On classic astrocartography maps, the ASC and DSC lines curve, while the MC and IC lines run straight from north to south. The closer a planet is to one of these angles, the more strongly its influence is thought to be felt. That’s why your results also show, for each city, how many degrees separate the planet from the angle; a smaller number means a sharper emphasis.

What does each planet line mean? Venus, Jupiter, Sun and Saturn

The Venus line is associated with love, beauty, pleasure and harmony: on the Descendant it highlights romantic relationships, and at the Midheaven it brings visibility in art and diplomacy. The Jupiter line is known as the “luck line” of astrocartography. It carries themes of growth, opportunity, learning and optimism, and it’s read as an expansive influence whichever angle it falls on.

The Sun line brightens identity and self-confidence; the Sun at the Midheaven counts among the strongest placements for leadership and recognition. The Saturn line asks for patience, responsibility and hard work; it can feel heavy in the short term but provides solid ground for lasting achievement and maturity. The lines of Mars, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto intensify the themes of action, change, inspiration and transformation, respectively.

How does this astrocartography calculator work?

Your birthplace is converted to coordinates with OpenStreetMap, and your birth time is converted to Universal Time using the time zone and daylight saving rules in force on that date. Swiss Ephemeris then finds the planetary positions at the moment of your birth. A planet’s zodiac degree is the same everywhere; what differs is each city’s horizon and meridian. So, for that same moment, the tool recalculates the Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven and IC degrees in Turkey’s 81 provinces and 78 world cities.

If a planet is within 5° of any of these four angles, that city is added to the list, and the results are grouped by theme. Classic astrocartography maps usually draw lines from a planet’s actual position in the sky, based on when it crosses the horizon or meridian; this tool instead compares the planet’s zodiac degree with each city’s angle degrees. As a result, you may notice small differences from other sites’ line maps, especially for the Moon and Pluto, which can stray farther from the ecliptic.

Limits and how to use the results wisely

Astrocartography is a symbolic language of interpretation, not a scientifically proven method, and no city can guarantee you happiness, love or money. The same line can feel different from one person to the next; your whole birth chart, your age and your life circumstances shape the experience. Birth time is critical too: because Earth turns one degree every four minutes, an error of just a few minutes can shift the lines by dozens of miles, and a quarter-hour error by a couple of hundred miles or more.

Use the results as inspiration when you’re planning a trip, weighing study or job options abroad, or trying to make sense of the city you already live in. Don’t base major decisions such as moving, changing jobs or investing on astrology alone; expert advice, your budget, your family and your own observations always come first. The time you spend in a place is what shows you best how it suits you.

Astrocartography calculator: frequently asked questions

Where should I live based on my birth chart?

Astrologically, the places that stand out are those where planets matching the theme you’re after sit on an angle: the Venus and Moon Descendant lines for love, the Sun and Jupiter Midheaven lines for career, and the Moon and Venus IC lines for home. The tool on this page uses your birth details to list those cities in Turkey and worldwide. Treat the result as a source of inspiration, and decide where to live alongside real conditions such as work, expenses and the people close to you.

How do I calculate my astrocartography chart?

You need your birth date, birth time and birthplace. These give the planetary positions at the moment of birth, and from there the tool finds where on Earth each planet stood on the horizon or the meridian. The free calculator on this page does this for all 81 Turkish provinces plus 78 major cities worldwide and sorts the results by theme.

Do I need my birth time for astrocartography?

Yes, you do. A difference of just 4 minutes in birth time moves the Midheaven and IC lines by about one degree of longitude, which is roughly 50–55 miles (80–90 km) at Turkey’s latitude. If your time is approximate, read the results as a regional tendency rather than a list of exact cities; a birth certificate or hospital record is the most reliable source.

What does the Venus line mean?

The Venus line is linked with love, attraction, beauty and enjoyment. On the Descendant it emphasizes romance and partnerships, on the Ascendant charm and social ease, at the Midheaven a reputation in art and diplomacy, and on the IC a peaceful home. It doesn’t guarantee a relationship; it symbolizes an environment that is open to love.

What does the Jupiter line mean?

In astrocartography, the Jupiter line is known as the line of growth, luck, learning and opportunity. At the Midheaven it’s interpreted in terms of career and recognition, on the Descendant as supportive partners, and on the IC as a generous, abundant home life. The one thing to watch is that plenty doesn’t tip over into excess and scattered energy.

Should I move based on astrocartography?

Relocating on the strength of astrocartography alone isn’t recommended. The lines describe, symbolically, which themes a place may bring to the fore; employment, cost of living, language, healthcare and being near family and friends matter far more. If you can, visit the city first or live there for a short while and observe how it actually feels to you.
